ReplyDeleteok, well, there is a specific read license plate with white lettering, and the small print is "Horseless Carriage" and those get put onto the old brass era cars.... the only people that ever see them are car nuts like us, and that's pretty rare too. For more info, look it up, but the rest of the license plates only say the state, the state slogan in some examples like Illinois, "Land of Lincoln" etc etc. Though all vehicles with engines that are required to get license plates are horseless, only those earliest ones from the 1890-1910 or so get the designation "horseless carriage"
DeleteI had no idea that brass era cars had special plates in some states. In Georgia we get the "Hobby Antique Vehicle" and that's as far as it goes, I think. Although - You can get any special interest plate for any thing under the sun, even out of state universities like Louisiana, Ohio & Michigan. These people pay extra to the BMV for the privilege to advertise -I don't get it.
DeleteWith so many "special" plates available in each state now, 57 in Wisconsin not including the "normal' plates, I've wondered if they would even notice if I custom painted mine.
