well restored vintage motorcycles at the LaJolla Concours

What is this unusual license plate? Anyone know?

Upper right hand corner yellow sticker says Occupational License... I don;t know what that is either

New Vehicle Distributor - Cannot be used on service vehicles. Only one plate is required on the vehicle. Per California Vehicle Code 296, 9262, 11715

296. A "distributor" is any person other than a manufacturer who sells or distributes new vehicles subject to registration under this code, [and sells or distributes] new trailers subject to identification pursuant to Section 5014.1, or new off-highway motorcycles or all terrain vehicles subject to identification under this code, to dealers in this state and maintains representatives for the purpose of contacting dealers or prospective dealers in this state.

the state we all hate: Virginia, sent out a cease and desist to Lyft and Uber. No one says what laws are being ignored by the two rental/taxi companies, but I'm sure the state hasn't figured out a way to tax it yet. http://hamptonroads.com/node/718716

Miami is also out to sink Lyft; Lyft opened in Miami in mid May 2014. So far, three Lyft drivers have reportedly been caught by Miami-Dade county police, fined $2000, and had their cars impounded. Lyft has paid for their drivers to get their cars back, cover the $2,000 fine, and for a lawyer to fight the charges.  The county had been fining Lyft drivers up to $2,000 each for failing to get a chauffeur registration and for operating a for-hire vehicle without a valid for-hire license — both requirements for cabbies and limo operators. Uber recently launched its lower-end service, UberX, there but their drivers haven't been fined or towed yet. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/cops-miami-running-sting-catch-153659605.html

a newly wed couple killed each other in a head on crash. Was her mother the cause of a fight? Did he leave the toilet seat up? Was it a "War of The Roses" re-enactment? Dunno. Might have been a case of "Chicken" But their aim was true, and they're going to be sent to the cemetery to spend the rest of eternity within arms distance. http://fox5sandiego.com/2014/06/06/newlyweds-killed-after-hitting-each-other-in-head-on-crash/#axzz33tQmbOKQ

And finally, a drunk driver tries to evade cops, crashes, kills his passenger, and while laying in the wreckage, next to the person he just killed... and the cops laughed at him. A witness reported to the local news: http://fox5sandiego.com/2012/11/16/witness-claims-cops-taunted-driver-after-fatal-crash/#axzz33tQmbOKQ

Viper commercial with humor I haven't seen before

Was the dark of the moon, on the 6th of June, in a Kenworth, pullin logs (because today is the sixth of June)

With thanks to Fred in the Peterbilt Enthusiasts Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/fred.johnson.963?fref=nf

"Breaker one-nine, this is Rubber Duck.
You got a copy on me, Pigpen? C'mon."
"Ah, ten-four, Pigpen, for sure, for sure."
"Ten-four, Pigpen, it's clear to Flagtown." " C'mon."
"That's a big ten-four, good buddy. We definitely got your front door."
"Mercy sakes alive, looks like we got a convoy."

It was the dark of moon on the sixth of June, In a Kenworth pullin' logs.
Cab-over Pete with a reefer on, And a Jimmy haulin hogs.
We was headin' for bear on I -10, About a mile outta Shakeytown.
I said: Pigpen, this here's the Rubber Duck, "And I'm about to put the hammer down.

We got a big ol convoy rollin through the night.
Yeah, we got a big ol convoy: ain't she a beautiful sight
Come on and join our convoy, ain't nothin gonna get in our way.
We gonna pull this convoy cross the USA. Convoy.

"Breaker there, Pigpen, this here's the Duck.
"Listen, could you back off on them hogs a little bit?
"Ah, ten-four, Pigpen, about five mile or so.
"Roger, them hogs is gettin' intense up here."

By the time we got into Tulsa town we had 85 trucks in all,
There was a roadblock up on the cloverleaf, And them bears is wall to wall.
Yeah, them smokeys thick as bugs on the bumper,
They even had a bear in the air.
I said: Callin all trucks, this here's the Duck,
"We a-gonna go a-huntin bear.

We got a big ol convoy rollin through the night.
We got a big ol convoy: ain't she a beautiful sight
Come on and join our convoy, ain't nothin gonna get in our way.
We gonna roll this convoy cross the USA. Convoy.

"Ah, you want to give me, Pigpen "Ah, ten-four, Pigpen, you're still too close.
"Yeah, them hogs is really startin to close up my sinuses.
"Mercy's sakes, you better back off another ten."

Well, we rolled up Interstate Forty-Four, Like a rocket sled on rails.
We tore up all of our swindle sheets, And left ?em sittin? on the scales.
By the time we hit that Shi town, Them bears was a-gettin' smart:
They'd brought up some reinforcements, From the Illinois National Guard.

Armoured cars an' tanks an' jeeps, An rigs of every size.
Yeah, them chicken coops was full of bears, And choppers filled the skies.
Well, we shot the line, we went for broke, With a thousand screaming trucks.
And eleven long-haired friends of Jesus, In a chartreuse microbus.

"Ah, Rubber Duck, this is Sodbuster. C'mon?
"Ten-four, Rubber Duck." "You wanna put that microbus behind that suicide jockey?
"He's haulin dynamite and he needs all the help he can get."

Well we made a sprint for the Jersey shore, Prepared to cross the line.
I could see the bridge was lined with bears, But I didn't have a doggone dime.
I said: Pigpen, this here's the Rubber Duck, "We just ain't gonna pay no toll.
So we crashed the gate, doin ninety-eight. I said: Let them truckers roll."

We got a big ol convoy rollin through the night.
We got a big ol convoy: ain't she a beautiful sight
Come on and join our convoy, ain't nothin gonna get in our way.
We gonna roll this convoy cross the USA. Convoy.

"Ah, Pigpen. What's your twenty?
"Omaha? Well, they sure oughtta know what to do with them hogs out there.
"Mercy sakes, good buddy, we gonna back on outta here.
"You keep in touch. "Keep the bugs off your glass and the bears off your tail.
"We'll catch you on the flip-flop, Pigpen. "This here's the Rubber Duck, out."
................................................................................................................................................

Now, who else is getting your butt in gear this morning with a rousing song about trucking? That's right, no one, so stay tuned in and tell your friends, here's the place to enjoy some time away from the ol job

2004, 5 and 6 Audi RS4 cars are the target of front seat thieves.

Since the seats are in high demand by less honorable performance car owners, but aren't sold by Audi any longer, car thieves are breaking into Audi RS4s, removing the seats, and without opening the doors. The victims are finding their cars written of as a total loss by insurance companies, as the only way to replace the seats is to build them with parts from Audi, piece by piece with the cost of labor and parts coming to about £19,000. It takes in excess of 20 hours at £132 an hour.
Tales from dealers, forums and aftermarket alarm-installers suggests seats aren't safe in any street-parked RS4, especially in London.

Newsflash... GM fires 15 people for failing the customers, well, killing 13 customers to be exact. 5 more disciplined, none arrested for manslaughter? WTF US Attorney General? WTF DOJ!

The delayed recall by General Motors that led to the deaths of at least 13 people was due to both the misconduct of about 20 employees, as well as “a pattern of incompetence and neglect” throughout the company, according to an internal probe of the recall released Thursday.

GM CEO Mary Barra announced that 15 employees have been dismissed from the company and five more have been disciplined in the wake of the three-month probe by former federal prosecutor Anton Valukas. Barra said some were dismissed due to misconduct or incompetence, while others simply did not do enough to fix the problem.

“It represents a fundamental failure to meet the basic needs of these customers,” she said about the findings of the report. “We simply didn’t do our jobs. We failed these customers,”

Barra’s said the report found that “GM personnel’s inability to address the ignition switch problem, which persisted for more than 11 years, represents a history of failures.”

“While everybody who was engaged on the ignition switch issue had the responsibility to fix it, nobody took responsibility,” she said. “Throughout the entire 11-year history, there was no demonstrated sense of urgency, right to the very end.”

The recall has prompted a change in GM’s process for deciding when to order recalls and has prompted nearly 16 million recalls worldwide this year — a record for the company. GM has said it will cost about $1.7 billion to make the repairs on all those recalls.

International Harvester Sightliner Toter, by the Whatoff Motor Company.. more rare than usual, this one has a variable wheelbase

customized by the Whatoff company: http://www.ameshistory.org/exhibits/whattoff5.htm
That cab, once seen never forgotten, had a remarkable 48" overall length bumper to back of cab, and the operator has the feeling that he is driving a window. In a very real sense, the driver is the first thing to get hit in one of these cabs, and they were not a commercial success for International.
