Makes no sense that an ambulance is labeled Air Rescue, Civil Air Patrol. What the hell did they need to blow a budget on an ambulance for?

  1. ambulance/hearse looks to be early 40s WW-2 vintage , if that picture is from 1962, it was probably free war surplus and no budget expense.

  2. I doubt that hospitals had helipads In the 50's . Maybe the NY CAP kept an ambulance at their airport to transfer patients to the nearest hospital.
