I'm going to show you something you haven't seen before, the delivery and dedication of a Hudson Valley diner, the Chief Taghkanic Diner in 1964

  1. How to touch an old guy's heart! I have stopped there a number of times in my early motoring days as a licensed driver in my 1966 Dodge Coronet WL21 and subsequent vehicles. The location, Ancram, NY, is a scenic setting of rolling hills with farmland. Not too far way is a Shaker Museum. This is almost to the northern end of The Taconic State Parkway. The Parkway in its original design was to take us to Canada, on the way to Montreal. However, the construction of I-87 from New York City to the Canadian border supplanted the plans albeit that the route known as The Adirondack Northway would only open by August 1967 when Expo '67 in Montreal was already in full swing. Love the history! Thanks.
