200,000 pounds, and 50 tires under it, and it's heading to a new test facility in Texas

Thanks Susan!

Some interesting things I learned... San Diego won't permit something so oversize to be transported during weekends due to the high number of drunk drivers.

So trucking suffers delays because drunk drivers! Well, damn, 1st I've heard of that.

Also, it has to hit the road at night, because of less traffic on the freeways

Daniel (thanks !) used the comment function to share with us some more criteria:

For super loads: Every bridge has to be inspected before and immediately after the load passes, can not pass over any bridge that has any kind of load rating restrictions, has to go over brides at an extremely reduced speed (5 to 10 mph) to minimize impact loads.

  1. Other things to consider for super loads: Every bridge has to be inspected before & immediately after the load passes, can not pass over any bridge that has any kind of load rating restrictions, has to go over brides at an extremely reduced speed (5 to 10 mph) to minimize impact loads. The state permit is far from cheep and there is also the added cost of engineers & inspectors to chase the thing down the road. The list goes on & on. . .

    1. I don't recall its destination, and it's a pressure testing chamber used to test measuring equipment.
