A man pulled up next to them, pulled out a gun and fired 10 shots into the car, because of the “loud music” they were playing. Jordan was shot three times, killing him.
After Jordan’s death, McBath left her 30-year career as a flight attendant at Delta Airlines
Davis, who was black, was unarmed. The gunman, who was white, was convicted of first-degree murder in 2014.
Intriguing, as that is probably the fist non politician reason I've heard of that motivated someone to get elected to try to get action on a problem they've faced.
In the extensive report on her time in office and accomplishments, it does not mention what results she has achieved in preventing kids from playing music so damn loud some nut shoots up a car full of kids, I presume that was her motivation to get elected, as she is quoted as stating "if our laws hadn't failed you".
She doesn't explain that, as it's illegal to murder. Perhaps, she refers to a law where 17 year olds could carry a gun, as that's illegal, for self defense. But recently it's been in the news a lot that politicians don't want anyone under 21 (including the military?) to own any gun.
"Since then, I’ve worked to honor you. I’ve taken your legacy to Congress to fight for common sense gun safety."
I don't know that I've ever heard of any gun safety that a politician has ever acted on, except to write the 2nd amendment, creating "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." That's safety you can count on, the citizens of the country having the guns to send ammo at the bad people trying to kill them.
It's good to have the right to self defense tools like guns, so that anyone that can lift a gun can defend themselves, their family, their people, or their country. That's what the guys in the revolutionary war did. That's what the roof top Koreans did in the LA Riots in April of 92.
Today the Supreme Court of the USA weighed in and spoke up for the 2nd Amendment, pointing out that the people of New York state have a right to carry a gun concealed, BECAUSE that is in the constitution. See, no matter what you think about the rest of the news, or opinions, the American constitution says that citizens of the USA have some rights. Even when other people don't like them. Like no govt religion, voting, trial by jury, assembly, petition, prevention of excessive bail, no unreasonable search and seizure, freedom from double jeopardy, freedom from self incrimination, due process, speedy trial, legal assistance in defense, face your accusers, trial by jury, guns, and that powers not delegated to the federal govt, or the state, are reserved to the people, and my favorite, freedom of the press.
Good or bad the USA will never get rid of guns. Are kids safer at school because of so many guns? 268 school massacres and counting. The next country is Mexico with eight. most countries are zero. The largest cause of deaths of children in the USA is by guns. Just because a constitution says you have a right doesn't mean that there shouldn't be onerous restrictions on how to exercise that right, especially if it is constantly abused. Disclaiomer. I live in a country where you can own guns but their ownership is heavily restricted and there have never been any school massacres.
ReplyDeletewhat country do you live in?
DeleteAs for the USA, you don't speak German because the USA is gun crazy, and took out the Nazis, and you don't speak Japanese because the USA took out the Japanese empire, at the same time we dealt with the Nazis. So, yeah, guns. Those returning soldiers from WW1, who helped defeat the Germans, got the next generation into guns, and hunting, and marksmanship (starting in public schools and boy scouts) and that generation went out and handled the Nazis and Japanese, and Italians. Then they came back and got the next generation into guns, and hunting, and marksmanship. That generation had to go fight the Vietnamese, with out leadership that allowed a real war where the objective is ONLY to win.
Instead of being gun happy, some countries, like all of South America, are constantly in civil wars, drug cartel control, etc.
Others, are simply getting bombed by suicide bombers.
Some, just have to deal with nut jobs that use trucks to massacre dozens (Nice France) and vans down city street side walks. Oh, and bombs in busses, trains, etc.
Are guns good? Yes, that is WHY the politicans are guarded with LOTS of guns.
That is why cops have guns.
Do guns prevent tyrants? Yes, the Irish would have avoided a LOT of sorrow if they were free to have guns, and defend against the British in the 1970s and 80s.
The French magazine journalists at Charlie Hebdo would still be alive if they could have had guns to shoot the muslim extremist crazy bastards.
So, I could go on, for a while, as this is a favorite topic of mine. You probably haven't even heard of Ruby Ridge or Waco, or other examples of the US Govt deciding to kill americans - who weren't aggressive, or dangerous. Neither were the 61 houses bombed in Philadelphia in 1985, by the police department, known as the MOVE bombing.
So, those are only a few examples of the US govt killing American citizens, without due process, without following established procedure of negotiators intervening.
If your only measure of guns being good or bad, in the hands of ordinary people, there are so many examples of good results of concealed carry enabling people to save the lives of churches and stores full of people, busses, trains, etc. I doubt you want me to bother typing all of them.
If your only measure of guns being good or bad, in the hands of crazy people, well, there are too many examples of crazy people to list, they've shot up malls, churches, schools, even the congressional base ball game and post offices - that I am aware of, and yet, never a police department, because my point is that crazy people are still not stupid enough to get suicidal. They take advantage of idiots that don't have a reasonable amount of SECURITY at schools.
How do you, and other anti gun people propose to prevent a crazy person with guns from shooting up a school? Probably with police that have guns who will shoot the crazy person.
So, my point is that the solution to crazy people with guns, is smart and sane people with guns. That happens to be why the police have guns, and the military.
Human race history proves that people without guns, are not going to be able to have safe and secure freedom as long as people exist with a military that has guns.
Pol Pot and Cambodia show that unarmed people are victims.
And if you could fact check your claim, instead of letting me see the stupid idea that you believe that largest cause of death of children is guns, that would be nice, and give me something to respect. Such a stupid claim obviously means you meant to use a longer sentence to give some context, such as the largest cause of murdered children is guns. Mothers who drown their kids don't use guns, and what, you don't care about the drowned kids? Happens every year.
DeleteAnyway, any idiot knows that the most common cause of death of children in the USA is vehicles.
By the way, the lead in Flint Michigan public water system, was caused by the govt.
Now, you've upset me with your claim about guns causing the most deaths of children, because it indicates you are either hysterical, and therefor not able to have a discussion about anything serious, where thoughtful dialog and facts are the most common feature, OR it means you don't give a fuck about the facts when it comes to childrens deaths, so long as you can use the common trope of morons - whip out the old "but what about the children?" to help your weak argument about ANYTHING.
You can do better. Try.
I wish I could have a discussion with someone who was intelligent, and able to avoid making shit up, and instead fact checked their opinions.
DeleteAlso, it would be a rare moment indeed if someone who feels that guns are the problem at schools, to explain what the simple clear solution is to prevent every single crazy person from killing kids in the next school shooting.
By the way, kids kill classmates, for being gay, for example, Matthew Sheppard. Wasn't shot, was tortured by classmates instead. I don't see you mentioning how that's horrible, or that you've got a problem with classmates torturing students.
And the largest school massacre in the USA was committed with dynamite. 1927 Bath school.
Does it matter how crazy people commit school massacres? Nope.
They simply will use whatever they find easiest.
Oklahoma City Bombing was fertilizer and diesel fuel, in a Uhaul truck. 19 kids in day care, which, is basically class for keeping very young kids entertained with educational activities. Aka, school.
Or what about the 2011 massacre by a lone gunman of 69 young Norwegians at a summer camp near Oslo?
It's not just USA schools, and it's not just guns.
It's crazy people, out to make a very loud event that makes them known.
the Orlando night club... so, no kids, but crazy people with guns.
See? It's not that schools are the leading factor, and to start a discussion about school shootings, to me, is to ignore the problem, and the object of crazy people, and to ignore the tools they use to make their problems known.
SO, how about deciding, is it the facts of the problem that you're hoping to discuss, OR, just to bitch about guns?
I'll discuss problems, but I'm not going to waste my time with you, or anyone, bitching. YOU or anyone else can make a blog, type up your thoughts, and then let me know. If I want to read nonsense, that will let me know where to find it.
But my blog already has one asshole typing, and competition isn't needed.
As for kids dying because of guns? Africa thanks you for being an ignorant white guy who ignores the past century of child soldiers, because they are black.
Now, piss off with all the bullshit, you are welcome to comment on anything else, as I like you.
I almost forgot, "Just because a constitution says you have a right doesn't mean that there shouldn't be onerous restrictions on how to exercise that right, especially if it is constantly abused. "
DeleteDo you have a clue what a right is? Apparently not.
If any right is abused, that does not tarnish the RIGHT. The right, is not diminished.
Tell me what rights you have, I will tear apart, with logic, and facts, your notion that those rights aren't constantly abused by others, yet YOU have the rights, no matter what others do with them.
I doubt you understand that. Since you didn't tell me what country you live in, I can't just go ahead on telling you about YOUR rights.
But rights, are not to be restricted, you idiot. Privilege's are. That ought to be clear, especially when abused.
Your right to be free from being raped, tortured, or have your organs harvested by your govt, is that something that you are willing to have restrictions on? Like, only if you go to the church your govt approves of? So, then the govt can torture the Jewish? Fuck you for being a Nazi.
See? Rights are not diminished by restrictions a govt arbitrarily decides apply to you because you were a male, so women can't vote, or because you served in the military, so the crippled and blind can not have some right that vets can.
Rights apply to all that countries citizens. Get it? Now, quit annoying me. Guns are good, not the problem, and narrow minded idiots misdirect the morons who watch the news without THINKING because there is an agenda to get some political theory to win out in elections.
Just stop crazy people from getting into schools with guns... it's easy. Just see that jewelry stores stop thieves with guns from getting in, or out, with snap shut locks on door and window access with a simple 2 door entry security passage.
Just like jails.
