Cool things with wheels since 2006
I remember seeing several cars with spray on window tint. I worked at a drive-in restaurant in 1968 and there was a built up blue ChevyII that frequented the lot and the windows had blue spray on tint. I never had the opportunity to have a look from inside the car but it was a real attention grabber for sure.
Did they tint the entire window, or just do a shade along the top edge of the windshield?
I don't remember if they had any tint on the windshield at all, but all the other windows were covered. I remember it being pretty dark, but I don't think Ohio (or any state for that matter) had any "tint laws" in place at that time.It also became popular on drag racers.
I used it on my 1961 Dodge Lancer with hyper-pak. It was an absolute PITA to apply, but if you followed the directions to a T, it worked well and looked great. Trouble was, it scratched pretty easily and I ended up scraping it off with a razor blade then using lacquer thinner to remove the rest.
Still available, used mostly to tint tail light lenses but there are also some professionals that will use it to tint exoltic cars because of the extreme amount of curve to the glass, and the fim won't stretch enough.
