  1. In 1983 when I was a senior in High School, the engine in my 66 Thunderbird croaked, and I bought a 63 mercury Meteor, for $275, drove it for a few months and traded it for a 69 Mercury Cyclone Cale Yarbrough edition

drove it for about two years and sold it for $550 at an auction.
At the same auction, there was a guy with a 69 GTO Judge 455/4 speed and he didnt get a single bid because his reserve was an outrageous $1,600

  2. my best friend had a $500 71 Torino fastback with a shaker scoop and Torque thrust wheels, wrecked it, and paid $1,200 for a 73 Firebird.
one girl drove a Super Bee 4 speed.
we lived in a small rural Appalachian town , that was the county seat, and only incorporated town in the county, 28 miles from the nearest traffic light.
    my brother had a $500 68 Mustang, his friend had a $1100 69 Chevelle.
the cheapest cars were worn out gas guzzling muscle cars that no one wanted because the gas prices had just quadrupled in 74 with shortages, and then doubled again in 79.
