The "Few Bad Apples" Epidemic: Sheriff Brame defends three Vance County sheriff’s deputies who received raises from the county while out on leave AND facing criminal charges.

Despite some pushback from the community, the Vance County Sheriff is standing by the raises.

Vance deputies Steve Staton, Purav Patel, and Mitch Pittman are facing criticism for getting pay increases in the past year.

All three of the deputies have been suspended with pay since as far back as November 2020, indicted on charges of embezzlement and conspiracy connected to the seizure of a suspected drug dealer’s car.
