Compliment of the day

Great to see the blog still going strong by the way, without doubt one of the most interesting and diverse auto blogs out there.

  1. Just out of interest, are you pre moderating comments?

    1. Oh, yes, I must. There is at least 1 fake comment for every 3 real ones, and the spam and fake comments with hidden embedded links are so ugly. I moderate all comments to prevent them for getting any traction in my comment archives, and from making a mess of a comment thread on any post.
Plus, I get to comment and not ignore anyone's comment that needs a reply

  2. From an old crippled biker ,Thank you for you're hard work . I'm mostly stuck in bed and have to wait for my caregiver to show up {when he remembers} to help me dress so my day start's with you're site then a list of old biker site's as I wait for him to get here to help me dress and fix breakfast . I hope you don't mind i have saved some of you're photo's in my laptop of bikes and cars that are the same as or close to what I have owned or rode in the past . So i have to add my thank you to the others as i can .

    1. Are you kidding? WOW, thank YOU! I'm seriously complimented that you like what I'm doing!
And hey, give me a couple ideas of what you'd like to see and I'll work on it.
I sure don't mind, not many images on my blog were created by me, I simply link to the sources if it's something I got from some other site. If there's no link, I made it, and I shared it, and I don't mind if you save those either. It's a little better world when we share what we think is good.
If you ever want to share some stories about life on the road, experiences as a biker, etc, please do!
If you want me to put out the word that you could use more help, let me know. I have no clue if anything I do would cause a result of some people showing up to help you, but hey, nothing changes without some effort.
I was a caregiver for my friends mom when he died of cancer, and I don't regret a single moment.
What was your taste/choice in bikes? Old road bikes? New bikes, vintage bikes, Harleys, Indians, triumphs, etc.
I haven't gone in that direction yet, but, it's just nuts, I've owned two motorcycles. Yeah, owned, never rode, for different reasons. The first was a Honda 750 I got from a shipmate for 100, because I'd like to have a bike to ride, BUT, the Navy, and Hawaii, both wanted a training course, and all that nonsense, and it would have been 4 or 5 steps of bureaucracy just to get a learners permit, to get a base decal, so, I sold it and the other bike was a off road bike, that didn't run, and was given to me, and I never found the time to even work on it, and I gave it away.
I want to make the effort some day in the next year or two, to try and get a late 40s Harley. Simple to work on, easy to ride, slow like me.

  3. Thank you for caring jess , It all ok , Last friday I had my first helicopter ride . I had a small strock . Ok i cant get my brain to work right and some of my spelling is going to be wrong ,But i was in the hospital for a few days . My god the nurses seamed to be tag team doubles . I mean two putting in the catheter one observer one doing blood pressure all at the same time . I got home tuesday and i had a good day just Kitching up with what you had posted . so you kept me occupied most of the day and i didn't sit here worrying about myself , so again thank you . As for my bikes I started with an Harley 45 when i was 14 , after several more harley's i picked up a yamaha 650 that just wouldn't die . followed by two moto guzzi's so if i was in public i rode Harley's but if i wanted to get to where i was going it was a yamaha ,And if it was dark out and i realy wanted to feel good it was a moto guzzi , In 1972 i picked up a cheep car , I thought it was a granny car that some kid tried to hop up . It was a 64 ford fairlane thunder bolt . followed by a 62 austen Healey with a 289 under the hood . Then a dodge 400 cab truck with a 383 big block . So as you can see i once drove and once did really like old fast cars and really do appreciate what you find and post . Just a thought , maybe if you can think of how to find and post rescue copter's might be an idea . The one they put me into was really different then i thought it was . They put my feet into the nose , the pilot was next to my waist and the nurse was behind my head . I always thought that i would be side ways in the back . Don't change Jess . you are doing just fine as far as I'm concerned . Hell you have outlasted three laptops so far .
Thank you for offering to help but i know and accept this is my end time's and I'm ready to go . I have a loved one on the other side waiting for me so don't be sad for me . It's all good . You do what you are good at doing

    1. I gotcha.
If you don't mind, can I ask about life n stuff?
Did you do biker stuff like Sturgis, Daytona bike week, rallies, etc? Did you ever join a club, was it all they are reported to be? Do you have biker brothers? Did you see the country, the world? Were you ever in the military? In love? In a quilting bee? That last one is to see if I can make you laugh.
Wow, a Thunderbolt! Were you suprised and excited to be a Thunderbolt owner? Did you race it, and if so, at any race tracks I might have heard of?
An Austin Healey with a 289? Dang! Sounds like a blast!
Do you have life advice, can you recommend any great books, tv shows, or movies?
When you go about your day, do you just look ahead, or do you reminisce? Have you thought about writing your Autobiography? Did you ever do your family tree? Did you ever collect something, and build a collection of that? Did you rent apartments, life in a trailer, Airstream/Spartan, own a home, fill a garage with tools n stuff? What were the 60s and 70s like, and did you get into music? Play guitar? Drums?
I'm just a goofball, and think people are fascinating. My life's been interesting, and I'm certainly going downhill picking up speed and now finding that hour by hour my blood sugar is a diabetic journey, my neighborhood is full of cool vehicles, and that walking is something I enjoy a lot until my knee starts aching after about an hour.
I wish life had been a bit different and that I was not broke, and could travel back to where I grew up, around family, and lakes to fish, and the woods to wander in. Instead I'm working just to pay the bills, blogging to enjoy the vast world of interesting things and watching a bit of tv. I'll soon be learning the guitar, as that's been a lifelong ambition of mine, and I got a good acoustic at an estate sale. That's going to cause me to spend a lot of time practicing, and not blogging. So, it's been something I've put off for the past couple of years.
