I like this, someone was both into local history, and wanted to keep the street sign in their back yard

See? Nice, I like the old style.

Compare the nice old ones to the new stuff... which happens to be photo reflective, but I don't think has anything else to claim as an improvement

  1. Replacement costs and expediency necessary for effective life saving E-911. No argument the cast aluminum's were nicer. I've seen some people's collections.

  2. Is this anywhere near where Kensington Video used to be?

    1. Wow! You know Kensington?!
Yes, this is north of Adams, up in Kensington, about 1/2 way into the neighborhood. I've spent the last couple of days in there, as it's not only a local neighborhood, it's my favorite for enjoying the homes, yards, and general ambience.
If I could have a home anywhere in San Diego, it would be in Kensignton.
Also, not only did Kensington Video close, so did the Ken. The seats were terrible in that old fashioned way, but, I've got great memories of watching the New York Cat Film Festival in the Ken. I can't recall what other movies I saw in there, but there were several others over the past decade

  3. I used to live in Abnormal Heights. I rented, don't want you to get the wrong idea that I could afford SD. Moved out in '94. Had an apartment hard by the southwest intersection of 163 and 8.

    1. that's Hillcrest. I used to live on 4th, the north end, by Scripps Mercy hospital... did you also live over in Normal Heights? That's between the 805 and the 15. I'm not trying to upset you on this one, just asking for understanding if you lived in Normal Heights, or Hillcrest.

  4. It has been so long. I moved out there in 86 and lived in Hillcrest for a few years. Pretty sure it was First Avenue, just north of downtown. Moved up to Mira Mesa for a few years. Moved back south to Normal Heights. If I remember, 3060 Suncrest Blvd. That was the one hard by the freeway. Near a bar we used to go to called Figmo's. (fuck it, got my orders)

    1. I'll be damned, I lived at 3030 Suncrest in 2001. Yup, that's just up the cliff from the 805

  5. I moved out in '94. I left the day OJ did his thing in Brentwood. Got back to Detroit and he was taking his Bronco ride.
