Autoweek tried to pass off a fuel injector cleaner comparison as legit. But all they did was report which gets the best reviews on Amazon

That's cautious to avoid liability and pushback from the companies that buy advertising space in their corporate owners magazines....

and it's bullshit.

Sure would be nice if some real tests were done, like with a couple dozen junkyard fuel injectors, several random injectors per product, so an overall effect could be judged regardless of the make or model of injector, and it's past use.

But no one seems to have the desire for pure research - and the means to test and compare about 8 different companies injector cleaner, Chevron, Lucas, STP, Sea Foam, Royal Purple, GumOut, Liqui Moly

This is hardly an article, it's a page for links to purchase, because Autoweek gets a kickback on the sales. It does not tell you which work, which perform better, which were more effective, or lived up to their sales pitch about better gas mileage

  1. There's a fellow on Youtube with a channel called "Project Farm" who has done engine carbon treatmentsl oil additives, and the like. I don't know whether he has done fuel injector cleaners as such. Since he likes to test things as impartially, as possible, it might be that a quantity of equally dirty injectors would be hard to arrange. He tends to do a pretty good blend of scientific and home-brew tests for a variety of things. In any case, if you haven't run into this, it's fun to check out.

  2. Absolutely every review for every conceivable small ticket item is nothing but a comparison of Amazon reviews and likely is just a shill site by Amazon. Noticed this when I was trying shop for one of those airfryer/toaster-oven things back awhile. I wanted a good one and was willing to spend the $ for it, figuring if I wanted cheap/disposable I'd shop Amazon or Walmart. All of the review sites just gave links to Amazon, most of them didn't even bother to write something original or use different link buttons. I'd be surprised if any of them have actually seen any of the items they are supposedly reviewing. my new rule is - If the site has a Amazon "BUY IT HERE" button, it's a bullshit site that is doing nothing mining clicks.

that turned into a rant -sorry
