70 Judge warming up on it's own before the driver comes out to go somewhere. It takes a while for 400 pounds of iron engine to warm up enough to make that heater do anything effective

Sadly, cars look GREAT against snow for better photos than grass.... but damn few people want to deal with trying to take good photos in the winter

  1. I live in Watertown NY and drive a 2015 Silverado. It has a factory remote that limits you to two starts at 20 minutes each. When it gets gets down to below zero (sometimes -10 to -20)two starts isn't enough to defrost the windshield and the cab is still cold when you get in. And the amount time and it's length can't be altered.

    1. remote start? that is a superb luxury in the winter!
I grew up on the Canadian side of Michigan, way up north, none of that Detroit warm and Balmy Canada that is too far south for snow.
The temps would stay lower than negative 10 all winter
People would matter of factly make a trip to the car ten or 15 minutes before needing to use it to get it started to warm it up.
A frozen accellerator cable is no fun, I learned the hard way, and requires about 3 to 4 minutes to thaw out for normal pedal use.

  2. Hahahaha, I haven't always been been this old that I've forgotten going out and hoping it would start. I've pulled the battery out and set it next to the wood stove for an hour or so to warm it up, which actually works. Maybe grab that can of ether and give it a blast. We'll not to much you know... you might wind up looking like the Mighty and powerful Oz if you know what I mean, and I'm sure you do! And a frozen accelerator cable..... it's amazing how many people have never seen an accelerator cable! Jesse you take me back to the good old days!!!

  3. A Pontiac V8 engine weighs more like 650 lb. Somewhere in weight between the small and big block Chevs.
