My grandparents bought a trailer like this (different brand) new in 1975. They had retired and wanted to tour the USA. They bought it in Minnesota and mounted it to the roof of a 1971 Ford Galaxie sedan. (It had to be a sedan as a hardtop wouldn't work). It looked very strange but did the job for them. After travelling for about a year, they sold it. I never saw another one in person.
Always wondered how the fifth wheel attached to the roof. It looks like it's just clamped on, but that doesn't seem like it would be sufficient to handle the dynamics of pulling a camper.
