One of San Diego's most recognized dive bars, The Aero Club, was opened in 1947 by a woman pilot, Mariam Profit, who wanted to open an airplane-themed bar to hang out with fellow pilots, and workers of the nearby Convair aircraft factory.


On India street, half way between Washington St, and Little Italy. Her husband owned the building, and was using the other half for his vending machine business

former owners included a group of Greyhound bus drivers.
