The world's most gridlocked cities, and countries, have been ranked

Los Angeles was ranked as the world’s most gridlocked city for the sixth straight year, followed by Moscow and New York in a tie for second and San Francisco in third

The U.S. accounted for 10 of the top 25 cities worldwide

New York’s Cross Bronx Expressway topped the list as the U.S.’s worst corridor for the third year in a row, with the average driver wasting 118 hours per year, Three other New York corridors fill out the top 10


How bad by comparison?

Los Angeles drivers spending 102 hours in congestion
Moscow and New York (tied at 91 hours),
Sao Paulo (86 hours) and
San Francisco (79 hours)

The most improved U.S. city was South Bend, Indiana with a 25 percent reduction in peak hours spent in congestion since 2016. Several Texas cities also saw significant improvement, including El Paso (-13 percent), Austin (-9 percent) and Dallas (-9 percent)

INRIX analyzed 1,360 cities – up by nearly 300 cities from the 2016 Scorecard – across 38 countries.
