I didn't know the history of the Scaglietti Corvettes... it turns out Shelby and Jim Hall, and a car dealership owner named Laughlin, hired Scaglietti to build hand made Italian bodied Corvettes

The three Texans contacted genius coachbuilder Sergio Scaglietti, headquartered right across the street from Ferrari, and asked them to build a small series of Corvettes in a mix of American underpinnings and sexy Italian coachwork.

The three sourced Scaglietti with three rolling chassis from Chevrolet. Scaglietti promised the cars would be ready in a few months. It took him two years to complete them. He was also building Ferraris in the meantime. The 1st one was finished in 1960

The one intended for Carroll Shelby has been in the Petersen Automotive Museum. One is painted blue and belongs to billionaire businessman, Bill Marriott, Chairman of the Marriott International hotel chain
