A father, his two sons, and a retired Ford employee were arrested in Dearborn for running a massive parts theft operation that targeted the automaker's plants.

various news outlets are reporting that multiple warehouse raids in and around the city of Detroit yielded huge stashes of brand-new parts that were allegedly pilfered right off of Ford’s assembly lines.

the thieves’ inventory was pilfered from Ford facilities in Wayne, Dearborn, and Flat Rock over a period of at least two years. Shahin described warehouses in Detroit filled “from the floor to the ceiling” with brand-new Ford parts ranging from body panels (including hoods and bumpers) to replacement parts (such as tail lights). After squirreling the parts away in their local warehouses, the thieves allegedly sold them on eBay using a Detroit-based front business.

  2. Okay, I could see being able to walk out with a headlight in your lunch box but how do you walk out with a hood or bumper? Plant security must be a joke.

    1. Every where I've ever worked long enough has eventually had security breaches, or opportunities that could be exploited, to steal or whatever, and I'm sure that working anywhere would cause the same revelation that there are ways to get things out. After all, Dilbert had a book, Build a Better Life by Stealing Office Supplies. I'm guessing these stolen parts were tossed in the dumpsters, and then retrieved once the dumpsters were moved off the Ford campus... or they were hijacked/stolen from suppliers with less security, maybe. The news, has also had a LOT of trains getting robbed in the past 5 years since covid
