Coil-spring tires have the advantage of not being dependent on air (or other gas) pressure. But the cushioning effect comes mostly from the coil spring near the bottom of the wheel, and much less from the rest of the tire. With pneumatic tires, the entire inflated volume of the tire provides a cushion.
Also, a rubber tire has the ability to offer more aggressive tread patterns vs the coil spring. (The rover in the top photo has what looks like ATV wheels and tires...)
