1951, Greyhound stopped here for lunch

and this guy is annoying as hell, but he's got the history and photos to make this video interesting. Skip to 22 minutes 20 seconds to see what is left of where Lane's was

you can learn more about it from the Facebook page made to show photos of it,

Among other reasons it doesn't exist, like the flood in the 1960s, is that there was a huge bribery/corruption/con-game scandal in 1948 that was begun when a sheriff pointed out to the part owner manager, a Mr Grange, in 1948 that having two slot machines was illegal.

Grange promptly told him that, no, he was sold the slot machines with the understanding he would pay kickbacks...thus unraveling a scheme whereby some lowlifes and defrocked law officers sold slots to the unsuspecting resort owners, claiming they were paying off the local authorities and attorney general to look the other way, while actually just pocketing the "payoffs" themselves.

  1. Interesting history of Calf. Highway 101, but the back and forth studio to live editing of our guide is annoying after a few minutes.

  2. Photo #1 - The “Safety Bus” designed and built by Fageol in 1921 was the first time a company had designed and manufactured a bus from the ground up, without simply placing a bus body on available heavy-duty truck chassis. The Fageol buses were built with a wider wheelbase, underslung axles designed to lower them to the ground so they were resistant to roll-overs around corners, equipped with a Hall-Scott 4-cylinder engine (later 6-cylinder for Western customers), and four speed gear box with overdrive top gear, as well as Westinghouse air brakes superior to hydraulic systems at the time.
