I'll tell you who OUGHT to be getting a letter of thanks and a christmas card every year until the zombiepocalypse, the company that makes the safety chain connecting the pickup to the camper, that held the entire weight of the truck

In a shocking Facebook post on Monday, Idaho’s Magic Valley Paramedics (MVP) shared images of a Ford pickup dangling perilously over the edge of a bridge, held only by the safety chain connected to their trailer

AND the survivors should get that piece of chain mounted to a trophy like thank you plaque inscribed with thanks, and do a ceremony presentation to the company, too.

I want to know the name of the company that made those chains and say wow to the people at their booth at SEMA

Soon after the crash, a Gooding County Sheriff's Deputy arrived on scene and the Trooper and Deputy were able to get an additional set of chains from a semi-truck driver, attach them to the dangling pick up, and provide additional strength to hold the pickup until rescue crews could arrive.

Soon a full team of emergency responders arrived on scene including a team of specially trained rope rescue paramedics, the Magic Valley Paramedics SORT, or Special Operations Rescue Team.

SORT members were transported quickly to the incident by Air St Luke's Magic Valley. Once on scene, the SORT members were able to rappel down to the dangling pickup truck and attached a harness to each victim allowing rescuers to raise each to safety.

The two occupants of the pickup, a man and woman, were wearing seat belts which also helped hold them securely in the vehicle until rescuers arrived.

  1. So here I am, back in Indiana/Illinois holding court at the Crossroads Cafe in Marshall, Illinois. I hear a guy ask another guy if he heard about the truck that was hanging over the side of a bridge held secure by trailer chains. Without missing a beat I pulled your post up, handed the two guys my phone and told them to read the whole story. Plugged your blog too.

  2. That is just amazing. I wouldn't have thought that a safety chain would do that.
