Good grief... with all the time to plan, and navigate, and double check the coordinates, and even consult their cell phones for Google Maps, an Air Force C-17 prematurely dropped a Humvee by parachute into rural North Carolina, miles from the intended target. Tsk tsk USAF

Fort Bragg spokesman Tom McCollum said the parachute opened and the vehicle landed around 1 p.m. in a wooded area between two homes between the Johnsonville and Spout Springs communities in Harnett County, about 7 miles north of Fort Bragg’s drop zones during a training exercise.

McCollum said the heavy drop was part of a test conducted by soldiers from the Airborne and Special Operations Test Directorate.

I'd say they failed... no wonder the Navy has more planes. The Navy doesn't miss the drop zone! (LOL GO Navy, Beat Army! Two Navy superiority punchlines in one news article!
118 games so far, Navy has won 60, tied 7.
Largest victory Navy, 51–0 (1973) That's called a spanking

Well, if the chair force wants to avoid getting picked on by Navy vets, they need to get squared away.

  1. Hey, free car from the sky... say yes to unexpected gifts. :D

Well at least it land in good shape, remember two years ago when THREE! of them crash in air drop. Some sarge land before judge then, "destroy of government property" and "perjury". Wonder if they also will get some charges.

  2. Yeah, that's going to look REALLY good on the loadmaster's next efficiency report! But hey it's in North Carolina, so the property owners will let it go if they leave the HUMMV. Seriously though, I wish what you said were true, but Naval aviation mishaps have taken a huge jump upward, something like 80% more class C mishaps in the past five years. Unfortunately that's true for all branches. Budget cuts in 2013 left them with fewer aircraft in service, less time in training, and just as many of more missions to fly. The commanders used to say "if you don't like the pace, go find a different job, there are plenty of people willing to take your place." No more, pilot shortages are real and will take a long time to recover from.

    1. US Armed Forces start to have all symptoms of being just too tired. Too much fighting, too much action, too much stress. If you push something to the limit, things will start to brake, accidents happens, people make mistakes and crash rates will jump up.

    2. The Air Force? They don't fight, they don't have action, they haven't been to the Gulf War, Iraq, or Afghanistan... they are the joke of the US Armed Forces. They are known as the "Chair Farce" for a reason... they don't do a thing. The navy has more planes, and flies them into all actions around the globe. In WW2, it was the Army flying all the bombers and fighters, in Korea, Vietnam, etc, it's been the Navy. The Air Force was given the missile silos to sit in and wait... and they never fired a single missile. THAT is why I poke them... they are a joke.
