1:45 in the after noon today, this SNJ 5 (T-6) ex WW2 Navy trainer airplane had engine failure and with nothing better to land on, the pilot decided the 101 was looking like his best option. He walked away, but the plane didn't make it.


Chris Rushing, president of the nonprofit Condor Squadron, said the plane is part of his organization.

he bounced a little on the freeway, and then goes out of screen, but from the looks of things, he didn't have enough brakes or tried to avoid colliding with some car perhaps, and put a wing into the k rail barrier, and that seems to have ruptured the fuel tanks and it burned to the ground
