Walter Gotschke (1912-2000) is one of the best painters of cars

  1. Walt had a real eye for this. Just amazing. The forth picture of the Mercedes, Audi, and I believe an Alfa has great movement. And the fifth picture, I mean WOW! Walter was right in the middle of that madness and he captures it so vividly. Sieg Heil salute and all! Jess, I see your not afraid to show history of cars, be it good or bad. That's what's lacking in our schools today I'm afraid.

    1. Well, I don't have a good idea of what the bad history is... Nazi influence? That's probably what you're referring to... if I'm right, I'll carry on with the reflection that cars are just machines. They haven't done anything evil, they've just been used by people for whatever. That has nothing to do with the vehicles. Or the people that just had to make do living in the system they were born in. Germans weren't all nazis, but they didn't want to be killed so, they made do, and went along with the situation to survive I suppose, though that's a simplification of a generalization.
The world's been a very complex place, and so many variations in things, like motives, effects, etc come into play... anyway, even the nazi swastika on the Zeppelin won't keep me from posting images of that amazing creation.
The aluminum frames monstrous sized dirigibles were incredible, and still motivate the steam and diesel punk art... so, the guy who made them was bankrolled by the nazis. What, was he supposed to go jump in front of a firing squad and die a noble forgotten death to appease the history books?
No. And painters and car designers, etc that contributed to Hitlers nationalization and what not, they should jump in the gas chambers? No.
Just people trying to live out the war until a better day came along. Life sucks, leaders are fucked in the head egotists who want to rule nations... but some people just want to race cars, paint cars, drive cars.
I can't try to pretend I'm out to not step on toes, bruise sympathies, and prevent outrage by racist people who hate the symbols of wars of our grandfathers. I'm not out to speak out for any race, religion, or politics either, I'm just a car guy, sharing what I think is cool, no matter the politics, race, sex, or criminal record of the creators of those things.
Like, for example, the art or music created by pedophiles like Micheal Jackson, or whoever. It's not an effect of the shit they do in a bedroom, and I don't have to bother myself about who or what they do sexually. I don't care if it's nazi, or horses, or whatever... I'm only focused on the art. Not the bedroom peccadilloes.
Anyway, history isn't this or that. It's the facts of the things that happened before the "now" in the timeline of the human race. 100 years from now, most of everything we think is important will be proven to not matter anyway. So, live and let live, just enjoy something, and share what you love, and then shower, and sleep, and repeat tomorrow.
