  2. I could do with one of those for my 1926 Pontiac.

  3. Just noticed the date - one year after the car went into production. According to my copy of John Gunnell's Pontiac Oakland history production began on 28 December 1925 and the car was 'announced' on 3 Jan 1926. Maybe the ornament posted here is the 1927 one? I don't know the answer to that - if it was different to the 1926 or not.

    1. I tell you what, if you find that this ornament went on the 1926 Pontiac, then it did. It's that simple. The dates on the patent really don't matter to it's applicability to the car, it's the patent, they made them before they patented the hood ornaments, and it's all legit. Just because they designed it months or a year before production means nothing to when they found a patent clerk to do the paperwork, and to get the right people to sign it.
My roommate is a patent paralegal, I've learned a little from her.
Patents simply keep the legal rights to something with it's creator, it's not the same as when something was designed.
I think, and I may be wrong, that you've confused that issue.
