Stupid question time... was the oval red ring on the Road Runner tail panel, referring to the race track shape of Nascar tracks?

I think, and I may be wrong, that these 1st gen muscle car styling cues were why the new Mopar muscle was given similar tail lights

While I'm on the topic of Mopar tail lights, did the 68 Charger and 72-74 Barracuda get round tail lights because the Corvette, and Impalas, had round tail lights?
