in 1959 'Lonesome' Long John Roller set a new national record for flagpole sitting by staying atop the Read Mullan Ford used-car lot sign for 211 days, breaking the old record.

Roller's home for seven-odd months was a convertible equipped with a radio, telephone, television, a kiddie pool for bathing and a cat who gave birth to 4 kittens on the 112th day of his flagpole ordeal.
