the starter lit the tree and let the other driver go. 

R.L., shut off his car in the lane, went to his push car, retrieved a tire iron and preceded to go after the starter. 

Then the deputies got a hold of R.L. and then that is when the shower of beer cans and bottles started and it took about 45 minutes to an hour to clean up and continue racing.
