At work we called that the "Used Camaro Syndrome". A kid would spend every penny he had to buy the hot car of his dreams but then had nothing left over for repairs, maintenance, often even insurance, so the car slowly rotted away. In your neighborhood it's BMW's and Porsche's I guess.
