Milwaukee, Wi is facing an epidemic of stolen Hyundais and Kias. While total vehicle thefts are up in general 172%, Hyundai thefts were up by 1,715% and Kia thefts up 3,183%.

There have been 2,949 stolen vehicles. Kia made up 973 of them while there were 947 missing Hyundais.

While it’s not certain why the South Korean brands are being targeted, it’s speculated that it’s due to the vehicles hot having an engine immobilizer, causing the alarm not to sound when the rear windows are broken. Once thieves are in, they peel back the cover of the steering column and start the car with their tool of choice.

Local authorities say the crime wave is being fueled by children, with half of the suspects being under the age of 16. The city is trying to get a hold of the situation however, Hyundai and Kia have said their vehicles meet or exceed all federal standards, and that their products would come standard with engine immobilizers starting with the 2022 model year.

  1. As of today (17th) Milwaukee is in the company of 12 other major cities that will report more homicides in 2021 than in 2020. And, surprise, surprise, most if not all of those cities set records in 2020 over 2019.

We all know of the middle-aged barbarian that mowed down parade participants in Waukesha, Wisconsin several weeks ago. What most of us don’t know is that a lad of 14 years carjacked an 87-year-old women in Waukesha since the parade murders, sexually assaulted her and threatened to kill her family if she reported the matter. What can the thought processes of such an individual be?

The Kia/Hyundai thefts are but a symptom of a much more serious, national issue, as evidenced by the assault of the woman mentioned. While I was growing up events of this nature certainly occurred, but they were rare. Now this crap is commonplace. What precipitated the change?

I can’t think of anything that would please me more than to attacked by one of these bastards and have just one second to stuff a snub barreled .357 magnum into their nostril and send them off to where they belong.

This is what it’s come to. On the street these days you're on your own.

    1. my guess is that parenting changed. Out parents generation was brought up by Great Depression survivors, and WW2 vets.
The teens of today have bene brought up by video game dads, wino moms who still have girls night with their friends, and schools that are "woke"
So teens are not parented as much as they should be, in a small fraction of the whole, to be accurate.
The majority are still ok, and there are certainly amazing teens... but the fraction who aren't civilized, is growing.
The 50s had beatniks, the 60s had hippies, the 70s had hitchhikers, and the 80s began the MTV gen x.

      Just my 2 cents.

  2. There was an event held in Waukesha, Wisconsin Friday evening, ostensibly organized to honor the victims of the Waukesha Christmas parade attack. It was organized by the Waukesha Downtown Business Association, and promoted as “The Lantern Stroll of Light and Hope.” Oh joy! Participants were encouraged to show up with lanterns, were given free hot chocolate and sang Christmas carols while walking the streets of the downtown area. Naturally, the local media was johnny on the spot, providing tee-vee audiences with the warm and fuzzy feeling these affairs are designed to convey. Not surprisingly, absent in the theatrics was any rational discussion of how a barbaric troglodyte like the accused murderer, who had used his SUV just prior to the Waukesha incident to literally run over his girlfriend, could be back on the streets again to indulge in the same mayhem. Where is Bernie Goetz when we need him? For anyone taking umbrage, may I respectfully but forcefully remind them that the 2008 SCOTUS Heller decision provides that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess a firearm for their own very personal protection. Furthermore, the State of Wisconsin provides for both “open carry” and “concealed carry.” As well, research by the likes of “liberal” scholar Gary Kleck and John Lott make it clear armed individuals are a real deterrent to violent crime. Just saying...
