some one I mowed lawns for had one of these rotten Lawn Boys, in the 80s. It sucked

See how it has one wheel way out front on the far side, and one on this close side is mid way from front to back... that is not a good way to balance something you're pushing across an uneven yard.

  1. My landlord had one that I used on my (his) yard and I thought that it was stupid until he replaced it with a "Flymow" THAT was stupid.

  2. See how the discharge opening is positioned so as to immediately discharge anything that got in its way. Less chance of clogging the discharge shute. This is before warning stickers. Neighbor had one. It was a little weird using it. You could burry the front right corner and take a big divot of grass. Unstable and used a smelly 2 cycle engine.

    1. If they had stretched out the front wheel support structure, both front wheels would be way out front, equal distance from the rear tires, it would have been fine. I dug a lot of divots, and hated that machine

  3. Im sorry you have had bad experiences with these machines. My dad bought one of these used in 1960 and I cut a boatload of grass with them. A big boat. I used to ride my bike one hand and hang on to the mower and pull it to the next job. A can of mix in my front carrier. As a matter of fact, I pulled the carb off of it and put it on another machine. It was retired from regular service and just did hillsides. Then we got a weedeater. They are light and easy to push. Just have to get the hang of the handle/wheel arrangement.

    1. I guess he is talking about the white 1953-55 Corvette behind the mower but I'm sure that wasn't your point. Thanks for all of the obscure and cool things with wheels.
