I think thats mostly because the creators of BaT sold it to a corporate conglomerate who is now listing minivans and honda accords. can the new corporate owners keep BaT alive? we shall see. Pirate4x4 was the largest and best off road and design and fab site ever. until the creators sold it to a large corporate buyer. now its posts and traffic has dropped to almost nothing.
and yet no one has ever offered to buy my blog, make me rich, etc etc. Not even a job offer to pay me to do this stuff I do. Darn it. I want to be rich and lazy I do think I'd insist on selling but only if I retained creative control, editorial control, and quality control. Basically, anyone who'll pay me to blog, can have the glory of ownership as long as I get a paycheck, and control to insure that it doesn't end up a disappointment to readers like every other site, Jalopnik, BAT, Pirate 4x4, etc.
