this garage and gas station seems to have lasted 70 years longer than it's competition! The Portland Garage in Weobley, Hereford ... 3 fuel pumps in front seem to have been left in place after they were decommissioned. Thanks Stephen R!

It seems to have outlasted others like it by becoming the local govt smog check station

it did make it into a book though, but only as a photo used as an example.

Cross Country: English Buildings and Landscape From Countryside to Coast By Peter Ashley

This book seems to be a terrific jaunt across the land, reveling in the local interesting places, from Roman forts and baths, to the stories of cantankerous old people that flung t middle finger at the govt.

From what little there is to read of it on Google Books, the writer is EXCELLENT and the book is exactly what I would want along if I were able to go on walkabout in that area of England

  1. There's something pleasantly charming about it. It has its own ere of coolness.
