Elaborate caravan built by Howcroft of West Hartlepool for an English showman, Walker Hoadley

From the Arthur J Fenwick collection of circus material. That's Fenwick on the top step

Arthur James Fenwick (1878-1957) was a director of Fenwick's Department Store. In his personal life he was extremely interested in fairs and circuses, collecting historical material about them and building personal relationships with showmen who visited Newcastle. He was made a life member of the Showmen's Guild in 1944.

Ain't that a beautiful piece of wood working? I love the hand rails, and ladder, and notice that the hand rails are cross drilled for using on varying heights of ground, even able to be at different heights from each other. Look at the size of those brake shoes!
