My father, a WWII amputee, had one on every car from his 1949 Buick onward. One, dealer installed, was on my folks brand new, red over white, 1955 Rambler station wagon. My mother mistakenly used it to disengage the clutch and put the Rambler in the middle of our room. Damage included a picture window, the wall, two wnd tables, the sofa and one very small scratch over the left headlight.
