thieves followed a semi truck and trailer from the Philiadelphia mint, and broke into the trailer to get rich. Why it was parked over night in a parking lot of the Philadelphia Mills shopping mall is a valid question.

instead, they found it was loaded with dimes. 

One pound of any American coinage is 20 dollars... so, they stole $200,000 of dimes and gave up. They spilled a lot of dimes all over the parking lot though

The dimes are $50,000 to a pallet, there were 15 pallets in the trailer

The tractor-trailer driver had picked up the dimes on Wednesday, authorities said, and was planning to transport them to Florida on Thursday, but over night the thieves (metaphorically) lifted weights to get sorta rich. 

Keep in mind, if there was 4 thieves, they would only get 25k after the split. Not life changing money, but certainly enough to be in jail for a while. That wouldn't even buy a car.
