back in the 60s, some cars could ford drifts, and some Fords became drifts... the blizzard of 66

  1. Thanks for the memories. In 1966 I was 7 years old and riding to school after this storm on the school bus. The local farmers had cut a passage through an 8 foot high drift blocking the only way into town, and that gash was just wide enough for our school bus. We had fun for a couple of days sliding the windows down and grabbing a handful of snow for a brief snowball fight as we drove through (of course being scolded by the bus driver that our arms were going to be ripped off, etc. etc.). Coincidentally our family car was a 1960 Ford Fairlane, similar to the one buried in this photo. This was all in central ND however.
