sportsmanship, too often lacking in sports, is rarely celebrated when noticed... so, here's a terrific example of two guys being good sports when it counts, at the race, on the line

At Pomona in Feb 2013, Vincent Nobile and Jeg Coughlin Jr were both racing Pro Stock Dodge Avengers in the finals.

Coughlin, a four time class champion arrived at the finale with lane choice, and when Nobile took his lane, he couldn't back up to the starting area after his burn out. But, showing incredible sportsmanship, Coughlin elected to shut his car off and wait for Nobile's team to fix it's problems.  Once Nobile started backing up, Coughlin went to refire his Jegs.com machine only to realize he had no spark.

Now the thrash was on in Coughlin's lane as his crew hurried to remove the hood and diagnose the issue. This time it was Nobile who graciously waited, despite the chief starter urging him to pull to the line.

Coughlin's car started eventually and the two pulled into the timing beams, but ironically Coughlin jumped the light by 0.014 second and and fouled out, giving the win to Nobile's Mountain View group.

"I didn't know what was going on," Nobile said. "My car stalled. Then his car stalled. it was crazy, but thankfully, we got the win."
