The USS LST 393 – short for “landing ship tank” for its main function of carrying large equipment such as tanks and trucks – is one of only two remaining LST ships in their original military configuration

“LST 393 was part of a huge invasion fleet and carried 28 Sherman tanks to help with the big fight that happened in Normandy on June 6, 1944,” Stephenson said.

The ship carried tanks, trucks, artillery and equipment and supplies “and went to the worst of the beaches” of the D-Day invasion, Omaha Beach

It will be the star of the event at the LST 393 Veterans Museum on Muskegon Lake on Friday and Saturday, June 6 and 7.
