just what sort of effect can a corporation have on traffic? It's stunning... 35% decrease in drive speed for commuters in general, when employees are forced to work in the office instead of at home.

Seattle has 50,000 employees back on the roads (as of Jan 2nd), forced to return to the office, in downtown Seattle.

Amazon maintains its headquarters in downtown Seattle as well as satellite offices in nearby Metropolitan Park, the Urban Innovation Center, and
Bellevue.

When the company first called its employees back into the office three days a week in 2023, it led to a 35% decrease in speeds on the major east-west highway that stretches from downtown Seattle to eastern Washington state.

Seattle led the nation in share of its workforce (31.3%) working remotely among the 20 largest cities from 2019 through 2023.

The latest census data show that a little more than one in five workers in the Seattle metro area were working from home in 2023
