wow, TheDrive.com rips Elio a new one, wiothout frankly stating it was a fraud, and scam. Over 100 million dollars has disappeared, and the 84 mpg 3 wheeler never went into production

https://www.thedrive.com/news/this-may-be-the-end-for-elio-motors-finally for the article on how much money the Elio company founder raised, and how an old GM factory in Louisiana was rented, but not used.. and the 1500 promised jobs, that didn't happen, etc etc. It's incredible that someone can still find gullible millionaires who will invest in a car yet unproven car company

I posted about the Elio about a decade ago, and even saw their booth at SEMA https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2014/10/news-on-new-prototype-getting-ready-to.html

  1. Had high hopes for Elio, low expectations, but high hopes.
Elio brought cars to the Iola Old Car Show and Swap Meet in Wisconsin for a few years, so got to see them up close and sit inside them. My youngest son (about 13 at that time) was looking forward to owning one someday.
But after years of delays, they announced they would be building their own engine rather than using one from a supplier. I knew the end was near.
