The Other Side of the Fence: Six Decades of Motorsport Photography is a book of 200 pages of images from 1960 on, shot by Bill Warner, founder of The Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, and lifelong photographer

Raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Bill Warner, knew that racing would be an important part of his future at an early age.

Warner's sister Harriet, a photographer herself, would encourage his parents to buy Bill a camera for Christmas. The gift came with a promise: 'Do you know what this camera will do for you? It will get you on the other side of the fence.'

At age 16, in 1959, he began photographing racing, and went on to be a regular contributor to numerous magazines and news outlets, including Car and Driver, Autoweek, Automobile, Vintage Motorsport, Atlantic Monthly, Automobile Year, and Road & Track

Some of his photography featured the key race-car drivers who piloted Porsches for Team Brumos in 1959 and 1960, such as Hurley Heywood, Peter Gregg and Roger Penske.

Mario Andretti wrote:

An incredible photo memoir by Bill Warner. A journey through road racing that shows us the people, the cars, the delicate moments, the fame, the glory, the disappointment. Bill Warner’s affectionate yet realistic portraits and captions are the best collection I’ve ever seen.

Matt Stone wrote:

Don’t for an instant question that Warner exists in the same pantheon as other greats of racing photography, such as Bernard Cahier, Jesse Alexander, Pete Biro, Richard George, Denis Jenkinson, and Bob Tronolone. The work is so good, that you won’t blink for even a nanosecond at the $100 price tag, instead happy knowing you got a bargain on this marvelous artwork.

Proceeds from the sale of the book go to Spina Bifida of Jacksonville, as Warner's charitable nature has raised 3.75 million for local charities.
