VW had a trend of naming their cars after winds and currents - Passat, Polo, Golf

the VW Golf was named after the Gulf Stream.
The Polo is named after the polar winds 
and the Passat means "trade wind".

    Scirocco is a Mediterranean wind that comes from the Sahara and can reach hurricane speeds
