Same here. I have always been a fan of Mopar muscle cars, even learned to drive a manual in a 1970 Challenger. But never liked the Coronet until the last decade or so.

Mopar never put the hide away headlights on the Coronet. Just the Charger, and maybe the New Yorker, Newport, etc. Not sure about those. I'm sure the Imperial had doors that closed but didn't carry on the grill look. Anyway, I like the look when the headlights aren't in sight, so a little photo shop and bingo.
Yeah its a little weird at first, but it grows on you. As I recall the fuselage bodied Satellite/Road Runner and the Coronet/Charger weren't ready for 1970, so Chrysler did a hasty refresh of the 1969 model's front ends, with a wrap around bumper for the Satellite/Road Runner and this split wrap around for the Coronet.

DeleteThe hide-a-way head lights changes the demeanor dramatically. I never thought to see that styling cue on the Coronet. I like it.
