redwall tires?

Huh.

I've seen red rubber inner tubes way back in the 70s... but never a tire with red sidewalls

  1. With only black and white photographs to use as reference, I bet we are missing a lot of cool things like this. People in the 20's were pretty wild, so I can imagine their cars were too.

Had a conversation with a guy recently that thought all cars from this era were painted black!

    1. Have you seen the colors they painted Ruxtons in? Beautiful - though I've never seen them in black and white photos until after I'd seen one in person - so, I didn't have a preconceived idea about them in black and white... but once you've seen the amazing factory paint jobs, it's clear that black and white simply kills so much of what we might be enjoying about cars - COLOR.

  2. A lot of muscle cars had thin red line tires in the '60s. As I recall my '67 Firebird had Polyglas red lines - and they sucked in the rain!

    1. My Triumph TR6 came with Redlines as well. Still can order them from a couple places including Coker Tire.
But they are just a stripe, not a full colored sidewall like Jesse's post shows.

  3. Very true...that's why I enjoy "imbued with hues" facebook page so much. The colorization work they do really brings the images to life.
