Probably IL-2 Sturmovik. The one of rare examples in gaming to use that particular model of IL-2 with open rear gunner cabin and early closed pilot cabin. Game mechanic have a lot of do with that damage model.
But you ask about fuel tanks on that plane. First is in front of pilot cabin just behind engine in upper frame section for 175 liters of fuel. The second, main one is behind pilot in section between him and rear gunner.Large vertical tank for 268 liters of fuel. So in theory you don't see damage on those section so plane did not catch fire.
Overall legend of "flying tank" as IL-2 was called was a myth. It was a tough plane for sure, but it take just horrible and I mean HORRIBLE losses in action, combat and non combat operations. Dangerous job, dangerous enemy, low quality and sometimes just bad luck, in the most optimistic numbers almost 1 on every 3 produced Il-2 was destroyed and production run was almost 35.000 machines.
I've seen loads of WW2 pics of damaged planes, Il-2s included, and the chances of this one - in color, no less - not showing up until now is pretty slim. Nice pic, though, even if it isn't genuine.
yes, but I come upon things that are new to me, but have been around since ww1, or ww2, that are remarkable, but I've never heard of or seen before.... yet they've been online for over a decade as well, and are in the same small field as things I've spent weeks looking for, and months looking through. Yeah, maybe this is a fake, or movie still, or whatever, but none of that changes what I said with my caption, you'll notice.
A game Jesse, IL-2 Sturmovik series. Not sure which one, there had been couple of them. Damage model show not the earliest game... I saw this CGI with 2013 date so probably from IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey.

CGI is a wonderful tool!
