I remember back in 1973 or '74 when gas prices were rising I swore that if gas hit $1/gallon I'd stop driving! It did and I kept buying it. I wondered what I was paying today for gasoline in 1974 dollars, I went to https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/ to find out. A 1974 dollar would be $6.47 in 2025, that's too much as I remember $3.18 advertised yesterday. 50 cents a gallon in 1974 would be $3.24 in today's money... that works for me. Gas is still cheap at less than 50 cents a gallon in 1974 dollars, it's the dollar that is not worth near what it was back then.
When I was 18 a gallon of gas and a draw beer were both about 30 to 35 cents. Today the beer would be over 4 dollars and gas here is at just under 3. so gasoline is a bargain.
