ok, Bruce sent me this image of his car. I say it's a black car, at night, in the dark (not under a street light or in a garage) . He disagrees. "Everyone who has seen it can see the chrome rear bumper, the door handle, the light grey upholstery" ! ? ? ?!

the reason I sent this picture is because everything and I do mean everything is visible.

Quite a feat considering it is a black car taken at night.

Everyone who has seen it can see the chrome rear bumper, the stainless tail light and the red light, the door handle, the light grey upholstery, the cowl light, the rear view mirror, the inspection sticker, the gas cap, the reflection off of each louver, the 31 radiator shell, the horn, the chrome front bumper, even the dirt on the spare tire well. Everything!

Its a shame you cant see it.

Ok... I leave it to you readers, do I need to go slap the crap out of the optomatrist who charged me for glasses?

OR

Is Bruce not aware of what photo he sent. I posted it here.... so YOU and HE can decide.

  1. As shown on your blog I can see very little. But I saved the image to my computer and opened it and it is much different with plenty of detail. I edited it by increasing the gamma and then everything is clear. I'm not sure what this indicates...

    1. I posted exactly what he sent, and using photoshop on it ain't legit.... I don't even know if that's what you mean by Gamma... but serious, those claims are just bs. It clearly indicates that what you see, is what he sent, is a black car in the dark.

  2. Ok on the interior, but that's about it.

  3. Not really understanding the question......could be red.......if you're looking for a color, I've seen reds do this before, but with green wheels??......Sorta doubtful I would think.

    1. the question, is he full of BS with his claims of what can be seen? I stated what I see, I posted what he sent, and listed what he said.

  4. Looks like a black 1931 Ford Model A coupe to me.

    1. yes, but his declaration? "Everyone who has seen it can see the chrome rear bumper, the stainless tail light and the red light, the door handle, the light grey upholstery, the cowl light, the rear view mirror, the inspection sticker, the gas cap, the reflection off of each louver, the 31 radiator shell, the horn, the chrome front bumper, even the dirt on the spare tire well. Does it make any sense to you?

    1. lol, I was going to say the TPS is also indicating low pressure on the drivers side front tire. But I love what you said more!

  6. It's way too dark to see any detail. I can't see any of the interior, and just the red light from the taillight.

    1. exactly. He's full of baloney on this. Maybe his computer has it's display set to other stuff.

  7. I suspect this is going to depend on the monitor, but on my low-end laptop here, I can see all the details mentioned. I would guess it's a fairly good exposure post processed with shadows lifted, possibly HDR shot at high ISO, pretty noisy, white balance compensated for incandescent light. A good portion of the light is clearly coming from above. Perhaps not a street light, but a bright full moon. Note the highlight on the roof, the light on rooftop and running board, the shadow of the running board on the ground, the visible curb on the street, etc. It looks to be lit from above, slightly behind and very slightly to the driver's side. If the headlights were the only source of light, then I think lifting the exposure enough to show the rest of the car would blow them and the light they cast much worse. I am guessing here too but suspect that after post processing, this image was sent through some de-noising software, which reduces sharpness.

As for whether putting it in Photoshop, etc. is cheating, remember that your monitor probably has a gamma setting too. If I take the image I see on the blog and lower the gamma, I get what you report seeing. It might be as simple as how your own monitor is set. Or, perhaps, the quality of the monitor itself.

    1. must be! Huh! From the many responses, it's clear that some computers display it different, and I wonder if that is Apple vs Google? Or brands of displays? Anyway, I work with my Asus laptop at home, and a Dell at work, and the image looks the same on both. Also, it's identical to the cell phone display. DARK, BLACK, 2 green wheels and 3 headlights.
Must be display settings, but, oddly, 16 years of this, and this is the 1st time I've ever encountered such a weird photo that I can't see the stuff all of you can.
Maybe it's like that dress that was a internet debate, what color was the question about it, about 4 years ago.
I haven't ever heard of a Gamma setting.

  8. OK, now I'm looking at this on my computer at work, and I can see the light gray interior, the door handle and the back bumper. It must be a difference in monitor settings between different computers.

  9. Thank you for showing my picture. I parked under a street light, you can see the green post for the street light on the left. I am not a photographer or a photoshopper, its just a plain ordinary
cheap camera, no trickery or manipulation. This picture has been cropped and no longer shows the stop sign behind the car, I left the engine running while I hopped out and took this one photo.
