similar to the 1928 airplane I posted in March that was powered by a Harley engine, here is a Harley engine that was used to power some unknown 1927 aircraft

  1. I do not think it could be used in an flyer aircraft because of the power,
but may be it was used as push motor for an water hovercraft (I do not exactly know how are called those, used for the water, a boat with an air propeller)

    1. aircraft weren't all made of aluminum back in the 20s, they had painted canvas covering wood ribs. They were crazy light, didn't have large fuel tanks, etc.
And the bottom link, shows the plane, that was flying and made the Popular Mechanics magazine award win

    3. those boats they use in the swamps and Everglades, I can't think of their name either.
But anyway, don't apologize, you're right, those 1927 Harley engines didn't have much horsepower, I didn't look it up, but maybe 25 hp?
That was enough for those early planes... certainly not enough for a Cessna, or Piper
Some of the planes in the 50s and 60s used VW engines... I can't recall the power, but maybe 35hp?

    4. I usually see those called airboats. They usually have a Chevy V8 to drive the propeller.
