This image has me thinking how damn nice it must be to ride a train through the upper midwest, the woodsy Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, and southern Canada

  1. It beats me why Americans hate train trave so much. I have caught the Sunset Limited from Houston to LA. Cheap and spectacular.

    1. I think hate is the wrong word, too strong an emotion. I don't think most Americans think of trains as a method of transportation, BECAUSE we have a desire for fast cars, not slow trains. Notice that there are no bullet trains in the USA. Myself? I would like (as I've been showing for many many years) that I'd like to get a slow ride through nice woodsy forests. Of course, I'd like a very quiet ride. Not a noisy train ride... more something in the notion of a bike with one of those 2nd rail wheels on a frame so it can go quietly and peacefully along the rails.

    2. I don't think hate is too strong a word. The station in Houston is like a glorified bus shelter hidden away from the road with no signage. There were plastic steps to board the train as there is no platform. It is about the journey. The train was not noisy and the vista domes are the way to see America. I have also been on the slow trains that trek through the woods.

  2. The Rocky Mountaineer from Calgary to Vancouver is a spectacular trip, but pricey af.
